Yes, I know, I know. I am like three blog posts behind. Life gets in the way. Working full-time, school full time, and most importantly, KIDS FULL-TIME! But nonetheless, here I am, finishing off the Black History Month series (even thought black history is all year round.) I thought I would close with ways that we can implement and create change in our communities. I know that there are a lot of people who hate the way things are in our society and they wish they could do something but they don’t know how. Change begins with us.

If you want to feed the homeless: Move For Hunger, “By teaming up with relocation companies across the country, Move For Hunger is creating one of the nation’s largest year-round service programs.  Our movers offer to pick up the unwanted, non-perishable food items from those who are moving and deliver it to their local food banks. ” Feeding America, ”
The Feeding America network is the nation’s largest domestic hunger-relief organization, working to connect people with food and end hunger. Donors, staff, and volunteers all play an important role in our efforts to end hunger in the United States.”

If you want to help shape the youth: Big Brothers, Big Sisters, ”
Big Brothers Big Sisters has operated under the belief that inherent in every child is incredible potential. As the nation’s largest donor- and volunteer-supported mentoring network, Big Brothers Big Sisters….develop positive relationships that have a direct and lasting effect on the lives of young people.” Boys and Girls Club of America, “Provide a world-class Club Experience that assures success is within reach of every young person who enters our doors, with all members on track to graduate from high school with a plan for the future, demonstrating good character and citizenship, and living a healthy lifestyle. “

If you want to help change laws or protest: Human Rights Watch Human Rights Watch, “is a nonprofit, nongovernmental human rights organization made up of roughly 400 staff members around the world. Its staff consists of human rights professionals including country experts, lawyers, journalists and academics of diverse backgrounds and nationalities coming together to achieve a common goal: protect against violation of human rights.”
Women for Women International, “Since 1993, Women for Women International has helped more than 447,000 marginalized women in countries affected by war and conflict come back to their feet to help the community. They serve women in 8 countries offering support, tools, and access to life-changing skills to move from crisis and poverty to stability and economic self-sufficiency.”

If you want to start a non-profit: CharityNet USA, ”
CharityNet USA understands what it takes to grow a nonprofit from the ground up. Today, individuals looking to start or grow a nonprofit organization turn to us for assistance with their nonprofit needs. From incorporation, strategic plan development, and 501c3 filing, to accounting, web design, marketing, and everything in between; we work hard to get our clients on the right track for success!” Non-Profit Start-Up Grants, ” Grant-giving foundations, government agencies, and other funding bodies support the work of both established and new nonprofit organizations in order to pursue their own missions and to contribute to a more philanthropic environment generally. “

There are tons of ways for you to create change in your community and in society. Mahatma Gandhi said, “be the change you wish to see in the world.” If you want something to change, then simply change it. Some of those things are easier said than done, but sis you got this. Start small, don’t be afraid to fail or fall, and remember to always get back up again. Outfit deets: shirt (amazon)
